The tamboura is a stringed musical instrument used in Bulgaria and Macedonia. Compared to other traditional instruments, this one is not as diffused in Bulgaria, as the gadoulka for instance. There are tambouras with the different extent in the regions of Raslog, Gotse Delchev and others. Tamboura's strings are metallic with different thickness. There are eight and six-stringed tambouras. Folk orchestras use the six-stringed tamboura – the strings are with different thickness and are divided in three groups. The violin key is written with notes and has a volume from "la" on the little octave still "la" on the second octave.
