Yovcho Karaivanov (1926-1996)
Bulgarian folk singer Yovcho Karaivanov was born on March 18, 1926 in the village Seliminovo, Slivensko - Bulgaria а progeny in a family of folk singers and minstrel. In 1947 he graduated high school education in Sliven, and later - the Law Faculty of Sofia University.
In 1951 - 1952 was a soloist in the State Ensemble for folk songs and dances. Performs concerts in the USSR (1954), PRC and Mongolia (1955), Switzerland and France (1958). Live At Directorate - Sofia Yovcho Karaivanov creates and manages the popular groups of the time "Our Song" and "Bulgarian song". It is one of the brightest representatives of the Thracian people, Song School.
Thanks to their talented performances and his voice characteristic Karaivanov promote Thracian songs, many of which come permanently in the repertoire of many amateur and professional folk choirs, and later becoming a school for young folk singers. It is a permanent collaborator of Radio Sofia. Last years of his life working as a music editor at Bulgarian National Radio.
In his home village Seliminovo is organized annually, Competition (nadpyavane) "With songs of Yovcho Karaivanov".
Songs from his repertoire are: "Kogato byah ovcharche"(When I was a shepherd boy), "Ah, mari, zapyalo e pile"( Oh, mari, is a bird sang), "Prez gora varvyaha", "Samna bulyo", "Ruske le, kapka rositse", "Bolen mi leji voyvoda", "Iskal Karadja Gergina", "Stoyan prez gora varveshe" (Stoyan went through the forest) and others. |
