Bulgarian folk singer Mariyana Pavlova - contraalto
Mariyana Pavlova is born in the town of Smolyan and is daughter of one of the famous Bulgarian folk singer, Hristina Lyutova, performing Rhodopian folk songs. She has been brought up with the Bulgarian folk songs, especially with the Rhodopian folk songs, and thanks to her unique sound she has earned a notable position among the performers of Rhodopian folk songs, one of which has been sent into outer space.
Mariyana started singing in the children's and youth ensemble in Smolyan. Then she has studied and graduated the school of music in Shiroka Laka. Her professional career has started in 1981 with “Rhodopa” National Ensemble in Smolyan – Bulgaria. She has participated in joint project with famous jazz and pop performers such as Bobby McFerran, Nigel Kennedy, Adriano Celentano, Enrique Morenti. A crucial moment is when she has joined the world famous quartet Slavey in 2003 to give concerts with in Bulgaria and around the world.
She has visited many countries in the world, such as New Caledonia, Japan, Korea, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Guadeloupe etc.
