The Bulgarian State Folklore Ensemble was established in 1951 by the famous Bulgarian composer Filip Kutev as a professional ensemble. In 1983 it was named after the State Ensemble for Folk Songs and Dances "Filip Kutev". On June 29, 2001, he was granted the status of a state cultural institute of national importance.
