Orlin Anastasov was born in 1976 in Rousse (Bulgaria). His parents Maria Venzislavova and Anastas Anastasov, were leading opera singers in the Rousse theatre. Orlin Anastasov began his opera singing studies early with Maestro Georgi Deliganev.
He made his operatic debut at 20 in Aida. During 1998-1999 he sang as Ferrando in Il Trovatore in Düsseldorf, as Filipo II in Don Carlos in Sofia and Ramphis in Aida in Wiesbaden. In 1998 he won first prize at the Hristo Brambov competition in Sofia – Bulgaria.
In April 1999, in Puerto Rico, he won the big competition Operalia – Plasido Domingo; in June of the same year he made his debut at the Milan La Scala as Basilio in Il Barbiere di Siviglia under the baton of Riccardo Chilly. In July 2000 he continued his debuts at Arena di Verona in Aida, at Covent Garden in London in La Battaglia di Legnano and at Staatsoper of Wien as Ramphis in Aida.
Other important engagements were La Somnambula at Teatro Real in Madrid, Aida in Berlin, Norma at Opera di Roma and in Karlsruhe, and many performances of Verdi’s Requiem: with Riccardo Chailly in Paris, Toulouse, Amsterdam and Milan; in Monte Carlo conducted by Georges Prêtre; in London, Manchester, Birmingham and Sheffield conducted by Mark Elder. He sang as well with the London Symphony Orchestra under conducting of Sir Colin Davis in Benvenuto Cellini, L’Enfance du Christ, Romeo et Juliette and Les Troyanes by Berlioz; at Trieste he made his debut in La Bohème conducted by Daniel Oren; in Hamburg he sang in Rigoletto, in Palma de Mallorca – Puritani, in Malaga – Ernani and in Frankfurt Il Barbiere di Siviglia. In Puerto Rico and Washington he participated at Gala concert with Placido Domingo, at Regio di Parma he had a wonderful success in Macbeth.
He was highly successful in his debut in Attila at Covent Garden, London. He sang also in Lima (Peru) in La Forza del destino, againe in Aida at Arena di Verona; at Spoleto Festival in Verdi’s Requiem conducted by Riccardo Chailly and with Accademia di Santa Cecilia at a concert in Caracalla. He made his American debut in Washington singing La Bohème, after this he sang Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Toulouse, Il Trovatore in Palermo, I Vespri siciliani in Busseto and Ravenna; Il Trovatore in Hamburg, Rossini’s Stabat Mater at Semana Musical in Cuenca; Romeo and Juliette by Berlioz at Sao Carlos, Lisboa; in Berlin La Bohème and Il Barbiere di Siviglia; in Busseto Macbeth and at the Salzburg Festival Samson et Dalila. In the beginning of 2004 he returned to La Scala with Turandot and to Covent Garden with Simon Boccanegra, and with I Vespri siciliani in Ferrara. In 2003 and 2004 he sang in Il Trovatore at the Paris Grand Opera.
His further engagements are Nabucco, La Favorita, Stabat Mater (Rossini), Requiem (Verdi) at Carlo Felice in Genova, Aida in Bruxelles, I Vespi siciliani in Palermo, Simon Boccanegra in Cagliari, Attila in Rome, Don Carlos in Ravena, Busseto, Ferrara and Modena; La Bohème in Orange, Ernani in Las Palmas and Vigoleno, Faust in Monte Carlo, La Forza del destino in Avignon and Busseto, Don Carlos at Teatro Liceu in Barcelona.
