Kostadin Gugov (1935 - 2004)
The singer Kostadin Gugov, born in 1935 in Sofia - Bulgaria in a family of refugees from Kukush, is one of the sweetest and most penetrating performers of folk songs in Bulgaria.
Accordionist Stefan Demirev discovered it for the big stage in the early 50's. An invitation to participate in the most authoritative concert group at that time followed - the group of Boris Karlov, in which the young Kostadin Gugov sang together with the famous Boris Mashalov and Giurgiu Pindjurova.
Kostadin Gugov is one of the folk singers with the most records in the fund of the Bulgarian National Radio. For almost half a century Kostadin Gugov has been collaborating with the editorial offices of Folk Music at the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television, has released several records with the music company Balkanton, and recorded with the Pirin Ensemble on Radio Blagoevgrad.
