16 orthodox chants performed by Orthodox Chamber Ensemble – Bulgaria, conductor Vivian Klochkov Soloists: S.Atanasov - bass, K.Nazlumov - tenor, N.Yordanov - bass.
Dobri Hristov (1875-1941) is the most prominent representative of the first generation of Bulgarian composers after Bulgaria's liberation from Turkish domination in 1878. Being a versatile creator, theoretician and public figure at the same time, he was one of the founders of basic genre trends in modern Bulgarian music. In its overall sounding Dobri Hristov's Liturgy is a sincere and simple rendition of the idea of popular enlightenment and spiritualisation through the faith in Christ. Observing the simple style, yet with pure and exquisite religious feeling, the performance of the "Ortodox" Vocal Ensemble contributes to the expressiveness of the work.
