The World Folkdance Festival is organized to join together the different and sometimes very divers cultures, through music and dance. It is a moving spectacle of colour and enthusiasm which offers a wonderful collection of cultures from all over the World.
From 1987 onwards, the event has been held in Palma de Mallorca to where, participants from all parts of the world have travelled to perform their ancient craft. In 1989, for instance 65 groups arrived with over 1.500 participants and in 1991, the numbers reached more than 2.000 dancers and musicians performing.

On each occasion, the International Jury has rewarded particular excellence with cash prizes and trophies for the best dances and performances
